Me on the Map

We are beginning our community unit and we combine it with our mapping standards.  I love this book Me on the Map.

This book is a great tool when teaching about maps.  We make our own Me on the Map book.  Each student makes their own and is the star of the book.  I take their picture, cut it out and glue it to a popsicle stick.  This picture of them moves to each page.  Here are the pages of one of finished books.  The cover has an “exploding egg” that I shared about here.

It’s hard to tell in the, but California has gold glitter for the “golden state.”

On the last page, you can lift up the school.  A group picture of them will underneath the school.  There you have it.  Tomorrow we are off to visit a worm farm.  The worm farm is one of my favorite field trips.  I will share about it soon.  Many of the worm activities that I will do come from my Reduce, Reuse, Recycle & Rot! unit.

  1. HI there- I love your take on this project. I was wondering how you got the holes in the popsicle sticks? thanks!

  2. Hi Andrea, I used a scrapbooking tool called a crop-a-dile. It's like a fancy hole puncher.
