Do you struggle with teaching sight word fluency? I know that I do sometimes, so I like to come up with fun and engaging activities for my students. A class favorite are pop phrase. They are the Thrifty Thursday Deal of the day, so read a throwback below to learn more.
Anywho, it is my job to teach them and I do. I introduce five words a week as a class, but each students works with their own list during Daily 5. You can read more about how they are individualized here.
It worked great last year, and now I am adding a fluency piece.
I made fluency strips that coordinate with the sight word lists that each student has in their Daily 5 box.
I hang these in my classroom for them to practice. Students have the option to grab a set during read to self or read to someone time.
I also wanted something they could practice at home or as an early finisher activity. So I took those same phrases and put them all on one page for them to read.
