Happy Saturday! I am down to seven days left, what about you? I have these last two weeks packed full of fun and I hope engaging activities for my class. So far they are loving it! I am linking up with Kacey over at Doodle Bugs Teaching this week for Five For Friday.
We are ending our school year with our rainforest unit. I love all of the art projects that we do with this unit. I tried something new with our bromeliads this year. We usually do a direct draw and then watercolor them, and they are beautiful. This year I made black glue by pouring black tempera paint into a half filled white liquid glue container. I shook the bottles up and let them settle overnight. We did a direct draw of a bromeliad onto black paper. Next, they traced the pencil with black glue and let it dry. Finally, we colored in the bromeliad with colored chalk. They turned out amazing!
We started our balloon countdown this week. I love the curiosity of my students each morning when they walk into the classroom.
One of the items inside a balloon this past week was shaving cream cleaning. We cleaned out our desks and we had some chaotic fun with shaving cream!
We have also been working on writing an animal report on a rainforest animal. Each student researched an animal and has written a report. Now we are working on our final draft. I had bought some blank books at the Target Dollar spot back in August and they are working out great for these books. Next week we will make Haiku Decks with the information they learned.
I have also put my early finishers to work this week. I had them check markers to see if they still worked, organize our library and I still have a list of more things. You can read about how I have my students help with end of the year stuff here.
I hope you have a great 3-day weekend!
