Fri-Yay!! I am so excited for the weekend. Who am I kidding? I am always excited for the weekend. I am linking up with Kacey over at Doodle Bugs Teaching to share about my week.
Last week I shared how we had wild turkeys at our school, well this week we had a baby bat. It was so cool! I love bats, but we had to keep the kids clear. We didn’t want them to scare the poor thing. We are going to begin learning about bats next week, so my students are super excited now.
Our first graders began a new project this week called the #ccdskindnessproject, you can search that hashtag and see some fun tweets so far. I will share another blogpost about this project later. Our kick-off was to find painted rocks around the school. The rocks spelled out #ccdskindnessproject. They loved it!
We began talking about personal narratives this week during our writer’s workshop time. We are eventually going to write a personal narrative about a time that we were kind to someone. It should be fun and a great way to tie it into our kindness project. We worked outside one day for some writing inspiration. It’s amazing how motivated they were while they were out in the fresh air.
We have been working our way through various word families, while learning short vowels. I made some one page fold-it books to review various word families and sounds. They are a quick, low-prep activity that my students are successful with them.
My son is at the age where he doesn’t like to smile for pictures, he would rather be goofy. But for some odd reason he decided to pose for a picture the other night with our dog. I love the look on our puppies face!
There is my week. Enjoy your weekend friends!
