Another week in the books, yippee! We had a great week in first grade. My class is really getting into the groove of first grade. I am linking up with Kacey from Doodle Bugs Teaching to share some of the craziness from this week!
On Monday I got to be a mom for the day. My son had a field trip to a local gold nugget museum to learn about the Maidu. The Maidu are a local Native American tribe. I ran the artifact station in a cute little one-room school house. We learned all about how the Maidu made a bow and the students tried to make a fire!
I am very fortunate to live in the same town that some delicious beer is made…Sierra Nevada! I live just a few miles from the brewery. The smell from the brewery often makes its way to my house. This week I was buying a gift card and discovered that my all-time favorite beer is out…and bonus they are selling it in 6-packs! They usually only bottle it is big bottles, or I go to the brewery to get it on tap. So I purchased a 6-pack of deliciousness. And guess what? It’s Friday, so after school I will be enjoying one (maybe two)
Bats are our next unit of study. I like to begin with the question, are bats helpful or harmful? The poll was almost an even split. You can read more about what we will be doing with our bat unit here.
We have delving into all sorts of kindness books and talking about kindness. We are looking into various ways to spread kindness around our school and community. We first brainstormed what it means to be kind to someone. Here is the chart we made.
I hope you have a fabulous fall weekend!
