Happy Friday! Did this feel like a long week for you? It sure did for me!! I am linking up with Kacey over at Doodle Bugs Teaching for her Five For Friday link-up.
We began building numbers with our Builder’s Club this week! My students were so excited when they came to class on Tuesday and found the classroom caution taped off! The anticipation was driving them crazy! They were given hard hats and then we began. You can read more about how this works here.
We are beginning to learn how to research in our class. As a class, we researched the adaptations of a polar bear and penguins. Now, as small groups they will learn about a different polar animal. Each group has picked a different animal to research. After they research and write down some information, they will make a poster to present their information to the rest of the class. They are very excited to be teachers. They watched videos and found information from polar animal reading passages.
Valentine’s Day is next week and I am already set! Target Dollar spot has pulled through for me. I found these cute little frog things to give my students. It will be perfect since we are the first grade froggies. They will make my first grader so hoppy.
Do you live in or near southern California? If so, are you going to the Southern California PK1 Conference? If you are, be sure to stop by and say hello! I will be presenting on first graders can do a research project. I’ve been working hard these last few weeks getting everything ready to go!
Last weekend I took a couple of weeks and headed up to Idaho for a weekend with friends, no kids or husbands. It was wonderful! We spent the weekend in McCall, Idaho for their winter carnival. It was just what I needed!
