We have done the pumpkin patch three times already this year, kind of crazy but fun! The pumpkin patch we went to last week had such a large variety of pumpkins.

We have a pen pal class this year that was set up by Kelley over at Teacher Idea Factory. We wrote to our pen pal class a few weeks ago. This week we received a package back from them. My class was so excited! They wrote us a letter as a class and then sent us individual letters. We are excited to begin writing them back.

Now to be honest I am not a huge boxing fan, but this is what my son chose to be for Halloween this year. I must say, he does make a cute boxer.

I spent three days at a project-based learning training put on Buck’s Institute. We do a lot of project-based learning at our school and it was great to get some clarification on a few things. I am excited to fine tune some of the projects we already work on in first grade and plan some more.

I introduced rock-paper-scissors math this week to my class. One of the responses from on of my students was, “This is the best game, you’re the best Mrs. Dooly!” I guess they liked it.

Hi Renee! It looks like you had a great week! I would love to hear more about the problem based learning projects you do in first grade. I am hoping to incorporate more of them with my students this year. Thanks for sharing!
