I went to Trader Joe’s this week. And guess what? I was sucked into the pumpkin vortex. Once I put one item that has the word “pumpkin” in it, I just can’t seem to stop. My eyes seem to find every single product in the store that has the word pumpkin in it. Then my puts those items into my cart. It’s a true disease, I read about it on the internet. Here is what I came home with.

We have been busy learning about salmon in our class. We get to go to a fish hatchery next week. I can’t wait! This week, our amazing art teacher made these salmon with the first graders. The picture doesn’t show the true greatness, but they turned out great. She had them use metallic watercolors! I didn’t even know those existed.

We also added to our creek board. If you remember from a previous board, we made the frog life cycle. Well, this week we added the salmon cycle. I know it’s not true because the smolt would be found in the estuary area, but I wanted the different stages represented so we went with it!

We finally began math tubs in my class and they are going great. My students are so engaged and love the activities so far. One of their favorites was find, tally and graph. We started out with just the graphing part. We will add the tally part soon.

It’s one of my favorite time of the year for sports, baseball playoffs! Even though my team is out, I still enjoy this time of the year. I really try to incorporate sports into my classroom because I feel it is a good hook for many of my kids. I like to pull out the baseball Cut, Do and Glue for a little extra practice.
Is your baseball team still in the playoffs?
