Pumpkin Resources

|

The season of pumpkins is here.  I have begun the process of pulling out pumpkin resources for my students, but I am waiting a while before I pull out the Halloween resources.  Read on for some of our favorite pumpkin books and a math freebie!

Pumpkin Books

There are so many great pumpkin books out these days.  Here are some of our favorites.

I also love to hear stories from my students about their adventures at local pumpkin patches.  To help with the writing,  I always pull out the pumpkin words list to add to their writing tubs.

Pumpkin Math Freebie

A favorite math station I add to my math tubs is an addition pumpkin sum sort.  It’s pretty simple, you just buy those little treat pumpkins (I have had these for years).  You write a sum on the pumpkins.  Next, write number sentences onto popsicle sticks, and then the kids sort them into the correct pumpkins.  To add an element of difficulty, you could put a sand timer into the tub.

I made this recording sheet to go with mine this year.  Feel free to grab yours here.

I have scoured Pinterest for pumpkin ideas.  Some of the pins are from fall parties, but you can use some of the ideas in a classroom!

When I click on the pumpkin sum sheet it brings up a check in sheet for math journals.
