Summer Reads 2017

Summer is here and I have started my summer marathon of reading. During the school year, I am often too busy to sit and spend a whole day or two reading a book.  Summers are great for that! I love to find a shady spot in the backyard, while my son and his friends swim. I let the book take me away.

I’ve put together a list of what I am planning to read (or already have read this summer). My list is always a mixture of pleasure and professional reading.

Pleasure Books

The first book, I’ll Push You I read in one day while driving to Oregon. This story is a true story about two best friends and their incredible journey of life and on the El Camino de Santiago trail. One of the men, Justin is in a wheelchair and his best friend (along with others along the trail) use perseverance to get Justin from point A to point B. It is such an inspiring story.

The next book that I am just starting to read is The Husband’s Secret. This author, Liane Moriarty also wrote Big Little Lies and What Alice Forgot, which both were excellent! Big Little Lies was made into a mini-series on HBO and it was so good! I’m looking forward to reading more from this author.

The two other books that are on my wishlist are After You Left and All the Missing Girls. They will be added to my Kindle soon!

Professional Book

My husband always teases me that I read just as many professional books as pleasure books in the summer. The professional books that are on my reading list are Bringing Words to Life, Visible Learning for Learning and Disruptive Thinking. I can’t wait to get started!

Those are the books on my summer reading list.  What is on your list? I’m always up for suggestions of good reads.

Happy Summer!
