I love camping! My husband on the other hand, does not. So I like to “camp” with my students near the end of the school year. There are so many fun camping activities you can bring into the classroom to engage your students. It’s a great theme to hook them into learning the last few weeks of school before summer break.

Math Centers
I always try to add some review math centers towards the end of the year. I’ve put together some camping themed activities that review many of the concepts we have learned.
These math centers can all be found in my Camping Math Centers Pack.
Literacy Centers
Here are the literacy centers we will have in our tubs this week.
These can all be found in the Camping Literacy Center Pack.
This year, I plan to set up a fake campfire, so my students can read by the fire. I found this one on Amazon that looks cute. Another fun thing that I like to do is make a s’more snack, using Golden Grahams, marshmallows and chocolate chips. I thought that I would have my students measure out their ingredients and make their own.
After we are all done, we write about our camping adventure we had in class or one they have had in real life. I pull out the camping word list to help inspire their writing.
I have also scoured Pinterest for some fun camping ideas. Some of the pins are from camping parties, but you can use some of the ideas in a classroom!
